torque lockup converter

What's service on a torque lockup converter run? What about total replacement?

when taking my foot off the accelerator at ~ 40 mph, the car sometimes stutters or lurches like something is grabbing (the lockup converter) -- or not letting go. It happens only when in OD (4th) -- if I turn it off, it never happens. it's an intermittent problem.

Me too, happens once in a while. It's just the dynamic nature of the mechanical behavior.

Not only when decelerating, but if I'm at 40 - highway speeds, if I have let go of the accelerator, when I press it again (not hard, just easing on to maintain speed or accelerate), the transmission does not do what it's supposed to do smoothly. There's a shudder and kind of a 'clunk', and it will do it every time in 4th.

Anybody have any service experience / idea of costs to fix?
