So is it 168 or 194?

I think it is time to replace them. They are from the factory. Problably 6 years old.

for the 95 - 97 maximas, the bulb # is 194. for the 98 - 99, it's #74. but there's a "how to" to convert the 74's to 194's since they are brighter.

You can use either bulb size as they are the same. The 168 will be the higher wattage of the two listed and will be brighter. If you can find 168 bulbs in the color you want then use those. Keep in mind that color bulbs will eventually fade over time. Took my red 194 bulbs about 7 months before it started turning pink. I eventually swapped out all 194 bulbs and went with a custom LED setup.

You should not be messing with Higher voltage bulbs. IF that's what you want do it. It can cause problems.
