Start stall, start stall, start stall ????

I have a 1998 SE with 65K miles. After is sits for 3-4 days or more, sometimes less it does not start right away. It will start and instantly stall several times. Almost acts like its not getting any gas. After 3-4 tries it will continue to run. Any ideas?

Does it stall out if you give it gas immediately after starting it, or does it stall just by starting it and not giving any gas.

If it is the latter, then you may want to check if youur throttle body and IACV needs some simple cleaning.

My car was stalling out if I did not give it any gas. I cleaned the throttle body and it started just fine.

Clean your throttle body... seriously. It sounds stupid but its pretty much free and is most likely your problem.

if not check your crank and cam sensors, see if they are dirty and clean them off. Your coolant sensor would also cause that problem.

But clean your throttle body first

Hi,

I do not touch the gas, turn the key and it instanly starts and almost dies as quick. If I give it gas while cranking it seems to start right up and continues to run.

dont feel bad many people have that problem including my self. I cleaned the throttle body, changed the ECTS, and just about everything they recomended except checking the crank and cam sensors. Im still on the hunt to find out what exactly the problem is.

It cranks fine and starts right up but stalls right away, I don't think its anything to do with the battery or starter.

I am having the same problem. I need to blip the gas a few times right after I crank it. Changed the ECTS and still has the same problem. I reset ECU and still the problem persists. It really defeats the purpose of having an auto start!

I plan on picking up some thottle body cleaner and techtron for the tank and give it a shot. The car seems to hesitate or not have the get up & go unless I push the gas down more than I really want to. It flys if I tromp on it! I'll try this cleaning and see if it does anything.
