How do I figure out which Motor Mount needs to be replaced?

Last time I was at the shop the mechanic told me that one of my engine mounts needs to be replaced. I don't remember which one he said it was and this was a long time ago. I hear a rattle sound when i'm driving or idle sometimes. Should I just replace all of them just incase? I see a set of 3 on ebay for around $200 where at courtesy or Jerry Rome they are charging $190 just for 1.

Look at the rubber, see if it has been ripped up. Also see if the metal has cracked. Last resort, take it back to him and ask.

If you replace any then it would most likely be the front and rear mounts. These handle the most stress.

If the metal is good then either fill them with polyurethane or get the ES motor mounts installed.

Word! There is no point to replace them with stock. My metal sleave completely ripped away from the mount with a bit of rubber attached to it. I glued it back it with super glue and then filled it with Polyurethane as per mzmtg's write-up. I know the super glue may not stick very well to this rubber but it doesn't matter cause the sleave is completely surrounded by polyurethane. There is also no need to spend the money on the ES mounts when you can make your own for $33 and an hour of your time.
