Why rubber door edge molding is awesome
Why rubber door edge molding is awesome
I live in an apartment building and park my car inside in the garage. I vacuumed the car and wiped it down to give it a once over. I had all the doors open, which meant that the interior lights were on. I also turned on the map light to help me clean the car. After I did the once over I was off to pick up my girlfriend from a night class. I failed to close one of my rear doors. I left the map light on so the lighting faked me out, I also hadnt put my seatbelt on yet , so I really did not think of anything about the red glowing ont he dash....So I go up the ramp to exit, and - BOOM! my right rear door is slammed shut by the pole garage door sensor. Needless to say I freaked out. I went around and dreaded to see the damage. But to my surprise- God was on my side last night. the door must have hit the pole sensor at the rubber edging (door edge gaurd) thus protecting my door. It could have been worse, it was all about the exact angle in whcih the door was struck- but it survived without damage. rubber edge molding

Okay guys- a pole sensor is a long pipe that is on both sides of the pathway of the garage door in my apartment building- it senses a car is there so the door does not come down on the car by accident. The rubber molding is the stuff that black rubber piping that you put on the door edge so you don't scrape up your door edges when opening the door in close quarters. the door was left open by accident- did not notice because i already had the interior lights on from vacuuming and when I was exiting the garage the door hit the sensor pole at the exact point where the rubber edge was able to taqke the hit, instead of the door. If the door had been at a slightly different angle, the door could have been seriously dented.....The map light and over head light being in the on position distracted me from the fact that my door was open- understand?
