I just ordered a WSP catback with 18" resonator and the Dynomax clone quiet muffler. I'm looking for input on a couple things. Will the install be and easy DIY? I installed my WSP Ypipe without much difficulty so I assume I can handle this. I just hope it fits correctly.

Also is a 4" rolled tip too big? I mean will it look like a big coffe can that you see on Civics? I measured the bumper cutout and it's about 4.5" so I just wanted to fill the space with a nice tip. But maybe a 3.25" slant tip would look better.

any input?

I got the Magnaflow and it came with a 4 inch tip. Its not really as bad as you think its going to be. It doesn't look horrible. As far as the install, I had to end up taking it to a shop. The pipe that goes over the axle was wrong and they had to bend me a new one. The also told me that the Flange on the Resonator was welded on the wrong end. So...what was supposed to be an easy install ended up being a real pain in my ***. Good luck, maybe I just got a bad one.

Any pics of the 4" tip so I have an idea just how big it is?
I only live about 80miles from WSP so if I can't get it installed Dallas said he'd do it for $40. I like doing all the work on my car so want to at least try the install myself first.

 

just take it to a good shop and be done with it....your welcome to try and install it yourself as I did...I did a hasty job though as it was getting really cold and dark...so I just stopped...don't take it to a shop that makes fun of the exhaust and tells you it's of poor design....both me with the WSP quiet catback and a friend with a apexi WS...and also a Z buddy of mine with HKS exhaust was told that but some shops and they did the worst job on installs....then all of got together and took it to a shop that just said yes sir...and okay...and just shut their mouths....30min later...perfect...for all of us...

P.S. you will love the sound and the silence of it!!! is it coupled to a striaght pipe or high flow cat after the WSP y pipe?

 

Yep, I've got WSP stuff for the entire exhaust. I already have their Y and Straight pipe. thanks for the advice.

Check my homepage. I have the 4" tip on a dynomax clone from warpspeed. When I first opened the box I thought the tip would look way too big, but now that it's on my car, It doesn't look outta place, and it is overwhelming. As far a DIY, you can do it in a few hours, but if you had access to a lift it would waaaaaay easier. I bolted it on, then brought it to a shop and had them weld all the joints, align the muffler, and add extra support to the muffler as well. I highly reccomend that you have a pro shop do this. I negotiated with a shop that wasn't too busy and got it done for about $60.

 

4 inch tip looks find IMHO. For the max its suits the look. As for other cars the 4" tips can look godlike....(i mean that in a bad way)

 

You're right the tip looks fine on your car....not too big in my opinion. Did you ever get it centered though? it looks like it's off a little bit in your pic. That's what I'm worried about... I hate it when the muffler tip isn't centered.

I thought all the joints were connected with flanges and gaskets, why did you decide to have them welded?

BTW is there a How-To for the install of the B pipe or Catback? I didn't see it in the How-To's. If not I guess I'll just stumble through the install.

 

speaking from watching muffler shop install mine, no, i would just let someone install it for you. the fitment wasn't perfect and to get your tip lined up right some bending will need to be made... any shop will do it for $40 bucks or so...

 

Yahe the tip needs a little more caressing. I left the flanges on near the cat but I had the connection of the B-pipe, and the muffler welded. If it was a 4" non-rolled lip, it might look big, but the rolled lip reduces the size of the inner tip wall and doesn't look so drastic. The fittment of the Warpspeed was a little off though, but nothing that patience and effort can't fix. JMO

 

It's a 4" rolled tip. So I think I'll be happy with it.
