I never seen a how-to on this...

Has anyone ever changed the front windshield? That is, go get a perfectly good windshield from a auto recycler, knock out the broken on and put in the good one?

I've seen businesses where they will come to you (job, home, etc) and replace the windshield instead of you having to go to them. So, I take it that it doesn't require a whole h3ll of a lot of tools and such.

Does anyone know or knows anyone that can ?

I have done it before and never will again. I used a piano wire to slide through the glue that holds the windshield in. I was in the car and my dad pulled from outside. It was a giant pain in the a$$ that ended up with me getting it almost all of the way out before my wire broke and i kicked the rest of the window out. All you really need is a course wire such as piano wire and two determined people. And the mew windshield of course with the glue strip.
EDIT: It wasnt on a maxima, I dont know if there are any rails or anything that need unscrewed before you can begin removal. Sorry
