I swear, I could be going 5 miles/hr with like 2-3cm of snow and my ABS will go on when i break. And the thing is, i'm not slaming on the brakes. I freakin hate the ABS in the maxima, it's a piece of ****.

the ABS makes this loud RRR... RRR... RRR... sound. It's so annoying.

What can i do? Can i disable the ABS and what affects will it have other than the obvious?

In snow, your tires are absolutely crucial for proper traction.

That is absolutely true, but that isn't the problem here. I'm just frustrated with the amount of times the maxima ABS kicks in. My parents' van has all season tires with ABS but it's not as sensitive as the max. My parents' also has a civic with has all season tires and they're pretty bald but the car brakes fine.

Um you need read about how abs brake systems work. then think about what would make it "kick in" (like vTeC yO).

Screw it. Dude, your tires are either summer performance, worn out or just plain suck.

You also need to know that starting another thread after it's been locked is a NO NO.

Look at my reply "uhh.. yeah this is a flame war waiting to happen"

and maybe I jumped the gun on locking the other one...

You need to gain some information, so I won't lock this one

For god's sake man get some real tires and you won't have this problem, exactly as I told you in your last thread. Falken ZE-512s are probably the worst "all season" tire for snow traction on the market. They are performance oriented, hence they suck in snow. ABS kicks in when your tires lose traction, thus it is the fault of your TIRES not the ABS system. It's not difficult to comprehend.

I hate ABS, learn about threshold braking. I was glad when my Maxima didn't even come with ABS.

To disable ABS, just pull the fuse. Your Maxima will then become a regular car with no ABS as if it had come that way from factory.

No adverse effects or damage to anything. And should you want them back, throw the fuse back in and that's it.

The Falken Zeix Z12's are rated as all seasons but they're more like summers. My tires would spin in the snow and the car would shift sideways when I get a green light at the stoplight.

As for the ABS its really good to have. I highly doubt if you can pump your brake foot just as fast as the ABS.

I know all about threshold braking. I also know I'd rather not have to concentrate on balancing the car on the knife-edge of traction while trying to swerve and avoid the idiot that just pulled out in front of me.

I'd rather just plant my foot to the floor and steer.

I wish I had ABS
