Knock Sensor removal problems

I finally replaced my knock sensor and WOW what a diffrence! She pulls a lot harder off the line now! However in the process I couldn't remove the bad sensor from the wire harness. After about half an hour I finally managed to pop it out of the harness but the harness broke a little. The top part of the wire harness that clicks on to the sensor broke. I checked and the new sensor held its place without the locking device. Once connected I bound the knock sensor to the harness with electrical tape. Is this going to be a prolbem? I'm mostly afraid of the tape melting and damaging the connection. On top of that the knock sensor code still poped up when I got my smog check. However I think that might be because I didn't reset my ecu (disconnect my battery). Should everything be okay? Thanks.

I too had a bit of trouble figuring out the connector but I used a really small screwdriver and was able to remove the wire that holds the sensor on. I did break off a small piece of the connector but was fortunate that the connector still functions properly.

Hopefully the tape will hold for you and not melt either. I think as long as the contacts are holding you should be allright.

Check you CEL every now and then for the first few weeks and if it is throwing the code you may want to revisit the connector issue. If it doesnt throw the code, leave it alone.

You should be okay as long as you taped it well, reset the ECU, you'll know soon enough

So far so good fellas. I haven't checked for the code but the car's torque is beautiful! I was so used to having a bad knock sensor (1yr) that just by replacing it, it feels like I got a mod! I can't stress how much more enjoyable the drive is now.
