Polishing Mevi (Pics)

Ive had this mevi for about a month now. For the past 2 weeks ive been hand sanding it. I did about 2 hours of 400 grit wetsanding on it today to give it a very nice polished look. I know I have more to do but its getting harder and harder to get everything smooth around the tubes. Is there another way for me to do it?

You are in for one hell of a time. ESPECIALLY if you are hand sanding. I did my 300z calipers and I won't do that again!

You should get an electric drill and some flapwheels. They work great for flat surfaces. But you did most of that anyway. You could have accomplished what you did in the pics in 1/4 of the time. If you get a smaller flapwheel, you can get into most of the areas you haven't touched yet.

To get into the small areas, get a dremel and a bunch of small sanding drums. But you have to be careful not to grouge the alumin. But it's the only way to get into the small areas. You will probably have to finish off by hand too. Big pain.

Finally you will have to finish it off with a high speed grinder + a polishing wheel + polishing compound. I've skipped some steps but you get the idea.
Some pics:

Yeah, he will be there until the 10th gen maxima comes out if he does the whole thing with a dremel.

Just get a dremel, might takes some time like Jeff Said, but its perfect for getting into those tiny little spaces, Go buy a polishing kit with it to, works wonders.

it takes a long time even with a dremel.

Best way is to go over it with sand paper first to get off all the dirt and some of the roughness in the intake manifold. Then wipe it down. Then take the dremel to it and have lots of sanding wheels. Then go over it with polish.

Thanks for all your replies. Yes I bought the polishing kit that it comes with as well. Should i just use that instead of mother's aluminum polisher? If I have some time today I will work on it. Since both of my parents went through surgery I have to be there for them when they need something so its pretty hard to find a good amount of free time. Anyway ill keep you all updated. Has anyone else polished a mevi?

edit

i did my valve cover by hand and with a drill and an aluminum wire brush tip. tookabout an hour. i used nexxon aluminum polish also. I mean it doesnt have that chrome look but its shiny.

rockfordmax, its a circular brush that is made out of steel or some kind of metal.

Update

Here's an update on how it looks. I think i have a bit more to do and then im done. Im going to do more 600 wet grit on the tubes. I highly recommend this bottle that I used. (look at pics). It has very very fine grit in it so when used with a buffer or dremel it does wonders. I recommend it more than mothers aluminum polisher. Here are pics. I will also take pics of the dremel accessories

Yes, bead blasted(microscopic form of sand blasting). It's easy, it looks clean and it's done quick, ready to install. Your hard work polishing the MEVI will oxidize and you'll have to keep polishing it periodically if you want it to shine. Just my two cents.

Oh ok, I fig it had something to do with sand blasting. Im cool im kinda short on cash man lol. I wish I had some to do everything. I might be lucky in that my friends father might port and polish the inside, which would be cool. Thanks for your reply.
