Car problems, what to do?

I took the car to the mechanic today for the sticky caliper. He said i need 2 new rear rotors and calipers and quoted me around $$650. I wanted to know if that was a good price or if theres any recommended parts. He also said the problem with having to give my car gas in order to start was the throttle body. He cleaned that for $58 and it seemed to start up while i was there.
The last thing he told me was that i have a banging sound in my transmission and he thinks its one its way out. Is there any input on whether i should have it rebuilt, or put another one in.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated, Mike.

I don't think $650 is toooooooo bad given the new parts & the labor. Of course, you could save a lot by doing it your self, but then it is January...... I might give another shop a call & let them know what car you have & what you need just to see what they say. It seems like this stuff always happens to me in the winter when it's a pita to work on your car!!

Fortunately, I don't have a lot of exp w/ trannys, so I can't comment on that piece.

Good luck!

Well to me $650 is way too much. If it is just two rear rotors and calipers you can get front and rear slotted/crossed drilled rotors and the rear calipers you need for that price but I would check out autozone and price out 2 rotors(should be around $27 each) and calipers ($70 each) which adds up to $200 then you add up in some brake fluid and taxes and you can do the job yourself for $250 SAVE $400 BUCKS. Its really easy,I just changed mine a few months ago and if you don't know how it tells you step by step in the chiltons manual. Well I hope this helps and about your tranny I would have to hear it to tell you what is wrong but noises usually aren't good.

Holy crap, where are you going? These guys are really you

Rear calipers rebuilt go for about $75 each and labor wise its pretty damn easy...
