failed inspection today on my 98

-y pipe + highflow cat + b pipe + stock muffler

-car has 79000 miles
-did the 60k tuneup

Would the knock sensor have anything to do with it??

WHY did they tell you it failed?????????????????????????????

 

Your from NY, they give you a print out and WHY you failed, it doesnt get easier than that.

 

RELAX PR*CK I dont have the print out, dropped the car off in the morning & didnt get the call till late so the car is still at the shop.

 

I recall him saying something about egr and nox

 

EGR system is clogged or dirty, probably a CEL and NOx means you went over the limit on the dynometer...

I dont know, find out exactly what was wrong... I'm only taking a guess by what you said.. Is your check engine light on? if so run the codes

Dude you were being the P*rick he was only trying to HELP you and simply needed more information to HELP you out. A failed inspection could mean a variety of things. Wait till tomorrow grab your printout and see what the mechanic says. Then if it seems too costly tell us what he said and we will give you advice...just chill out dude in the meantime

 

Got the results back:

HC 0.77 C0 9.32 N0x 2.13 - MAX

HC 0.60 C0 10.00 N0x 1.50 - test limits

mechanic said it was the cat (warpspeed metallic substrate cat)

 

so can i assume warpspeed wasn't talking about ny when they said it would pass
