Rewire Bumper Lights

Is there any way to rewire the front part of the bumper lights to stay on with the headlights and then blink like usual for the blinkers without buying a new 1157 socket? I see the how to here http://www.vqpower.com/v2/modules.ph...howpage&pid=53

But is there an easier way to do this without having to buy the sockets that really don't fit and then packing them full of silicone?

The only way would be to use a dual filament bulb like the 1157. The 1156 that it uses normally is only single filament, so it can only be either on or off. You gotta switch to 1157.

Ok, I understand. Do you know of anyplace online that sells the 1157 socket? I've checked carparts.com and ebay with no luck. I'd like to get the Nissan sockets so I won't have to ground and seal them. Is anybody selling these?

You can go to advance auto parts or any of those places and get the sockett. It's not an OEM one, but more of a generic sockett that has a spring clip on it to hold it on. It wont fall out, but its loose, so you have to either fill the surrounding area with a sealant- something that can be removed in case you need to change the bulbs.

I just wrapped mine around with electrical tape and it's help up just fine without any leaks or problems for the past year. There is a writeup somewhere on it, but I dont recall where it is.

Your best bet is a pick-n-pull/junk yard. I've never been able to find the 1157 Nissan sockets to be sold seperately so this is the main reason why I never did this mod. I just dont want to silicon the socket shut and have to unseal/reseal it once the bulb goes out.

Okay, so how would one get the corner clearence light to blink instead of the front bumper light?
Just swap the wires?
I think it would look nice if the clearence light blinked with the outer bumper light.

You could could try to switch the sockets, but then the corner light wouldnt light up except for the blinker. I would say to rewire them, wire the current blinker with the side marker light so it comes on together, and then run the wire that used to turn on the blinker up to the high filament on the corner light and then disconnect the stock wiring going to the high filament on the corner light- at least you would for the 95/96 because ours actually work, 97-99 not sure about power going to that.

all i did was switch the sockets i pulled the clearance down to the front bumper light and pull the bumper lifgt to the clearance housing and TA-DA its done but dont leave it "bright" you have to make the bulb dim again if you did the bright clearance mod or else it will melt the bumper light im talking from experiance
