Time for a New Car - Trade or Keep the Max?

Ok, so I've decide it's time for a new car. So many little things are wrong with the maxima that I don't really enjoy driving it anymore.

Stats:
1997 SE, 119K, Auto, Sunroof, Y-pipe, Bpipe, Stillen FSTB/RSB/Intake, AGX/Sprints.
- Clear coat flaking on hood, rest of the body perfect
- Check Engine light: 0302: EGR valve
- One Rear Speaker dying
- Jumpy Idle
- Need to fix the Thermostat

So here are my main decisions:
1. I keep the max and get any car that I want. (I'm thinkin G35 RWD)
- About how much does minimal insurance run on a second car?
- Anyone else here have their max and another car?

2. I fix up the max, so I can trade it in and just make sure to get a FWD car.
- Not sure how much I'll get for my maxima.

3. I just sell the max as is.
- How much more will I get for fixing the things wrong with it? Is it worth the extra time and effort?

It's always cheaper to keep what you already own. Compare the cost of fixing your car to the cost of a couple-hundred-dollar car payment every month for a while....

I have these thoughts all the time. The only way I would sell my Max is if I could get $1k+ over KBB for all my mods/sweat equity. Other than that, it's not really worth selling since it's paid off. Sure it pi$$es me off something fierce every day with all the rattles and stuff, but $200 worth of dynamat later (as long as you're not going for a track car) and $200 for SFC's, you can have the quietest Max in town. Much past that, regular maintenance on our cars really isn't that bad.

Not to say I don't want my E39 540i6/M5 ASAP, but financially, I just can't justify it right now. Maybe in a year or so ... who knows.

However, if you can take the hit and don't mind a monthly car payment, there really is nothing like getting a new car.
