angel eyes? what exactly are they?

I was always under the impression that Angel Eyes were the ring of light around the bulb that BMW's are known for. My friend made his own (what i thought were AE) and he used some kind of clear thin tube with a blue LED in it and put it around his bulb. It was like 3-4 inches in diameter. Am i wrong as to what AE are? After reading about people on the forum talking about them, it made me question what i thought they were.

AE is not the same as angel eyes if you look AE headlights are headlights that have a blacked out portion... angel eyes dont necessarily look good on our cars imo at least since we dont have a circular headlight housing... the 5.5 gens however look very nice with them

just for reference, when people mention AE on this site, they're probably talking about Anniversary Edition.

Let's not start this again...

Every innocent angel eye thread I've seen so far turns into some stupid argument about whether they should/shouldn't be on Maximas.

Yeah you definitely have to customize them... I've seen E55, D2S, and E46 projectors on 4th gens. As far as the cost, I'd say you're looking at around $500 when all is said and done, correct me if I'm wrong though.

And angel eyes you can just throw on afterwards, they're not too tough to wire in.

why hate on any modds its that persons car that they have too drive so if they fruck it up its them. angel eyes dont just belong on beamers just cause they may have came out with it first. no one downed dual exhaust all you none mustangs,350z's etc... or honda red clears or whatever else people do. .

I want to do this with my Inifiniti I30 but the only problem I came across is.. where the hell do I put them? Do I need to use crazy glue and use a few dabs of it? I know how to make them from a DIY site, seems simple to do just takes up time. Never though that those shade sticks (clear plastic stick you turn left or right to turn shades) would actually be able to be used to make Angel Eyes.

I really like the way his car looks, is diferent than the rest and seems to be a very creative guy. I would like to have them in my car as well, maybe some day.

I agree... but I think its ok on a maxima with oem HID projectors, such as Geo's car. I was going to do them on my car, but I think the bezels im using look better (cant do both). I thnk of them as daytime angel eyes...
