thinking of buying engine and 5sp tranny thats been siting for 9 years with 10k miles

was thinking of buying engine and 5sp transmission 95se with 10k miles on it that has been sitting around since 1996 thats 9 years in a non heated garage in massachusetts price of engine and transmission $650

I have 1996 maxima SE 5sp has 181,000 miles and needs a transmission

I was wondering what are the steps I should make before I do this
any info would be great .Never had changed engine before but would like to try

sounds like a good idea. maybe take one of the covers off teh head check see if the motor is in good condition internally but for 10,000 miles it should be okay
