Mac Mini in the 4th Gen Max

Guys -

The cheap Mac Mini can fit into the the single DIN of the MAX! I am interested in know how one would wire for power since car voltage fluctuates so much. I suppose a regulator is required. Anyway, if anyone wants to venture, this is an easy install and could be the brains of your MAX. Many already have LCD screens so let's work on this together to see how to install. I appreciate it and pics always welcome. www.apple.com

mac mini's are on sale for $500 bux. pretty nice deal. Only downside i see is I'm unsure as to how much of a beating these things can take. Not sure if the car environment would be the best place for them.

sounds like a good idea. I personally have a vendetta again Macs, but with that asside sounds like a good plan and could give a nice new feel inside the max.

F**kin Macs always crashing. . .

Yeah this sounds like an awesome idea. I would love to have one my car. But how would you connect it to the lcd screen? What kind of video output does the mini have other than the standard monitor cable. Does it have s-video? And will lcd screens be able to connect to it?

hey.. i love macs...

well to start off i think u would have to wipe out OS X and install Lunix.

also the macmini will overheat in a car specially in summer time.. hence you have to liberate it from its factory casing.... and turn ur glove box or dash into casing with fans etc. so its upto you to do that... mini's have the DVIout... the HD type monitor connection... the power problem is solved.. the drive .. is slot loading so u can relocate it directly to the dash area ... (for stock look)....

personally toomuch head ache.. so im gonan take apart a alpine cva1005 and put the lcd in the double din slot an dthe volume control etc in teh push out tray part...

I have a Mac Mini. It's a pretty sweet machine, especially given its size. One problem with your idea is that the power button is on the back of the computer (WHY did they put it there?!?!?!) right next to all the wiring inputs/outputs, so it would be inaccessible when buried in your center console.
