When my car idles, the alternator pulsates / vibrates. It will run smooth for half a second, then the other half second it shakes/vibrates and you can hear it. It's a new (reman) alternator, and the old one didn't pulsate like this one.

You mean you can pop the hood and watch it shake, or the electricity seems to pulse?

If I open the hood, I can see it pulsate... it will sit still for half a second, then vibrate for half a second. As if the belts weren't lined up properly or something. Maybe I need a new idler pulley, I dunno.

Did you remember to tighten that looooong bolt on the underside of the alt? When I did mine, we had to leave it a bit loose so we could have the slack to line up the bolt at the top, then come back to it and finish tightening it. If this is the case, it would be a pain bcz the A/C compressor will probably have to come back out to access that bolt. But a whack pulley or something also seems likely, so I dunno.

PS: Did you post this question while at school? I made my first reply while on a break in Steely, and I was wondering if you were in the same room on a different comp.....

mine is doing this exact same thing.. Wish he posted what fixed it. I don't want to pull the ac compressor :<
