Foot Pedals too close together

Hi - I have a '97 GXE with an automatic transmission. I find the gas and brake pedal to be too close together. I'd like to be able to rest my foot on the floor during long highway drives when I'm using cruise control.

Has anyone replaced their brake and/or gas pedal with a smaller size? Any recommendations on brand, where to buy, problems installing, etc.?

All the best,

Bill

As a former go-kart racer, I often enjoy modulating the brake & gas at the same time while tearing through a corner. And, yes, the damn pedals are too close!

I'm certain, in my case, nothing could be done about it, outside of tearing a new hole in the firewall - not happening! I'd imagine you could torch off and weld a new brake pedal, but I wouldn't advise it.

Yup the pedals are too damn close, when wearing certain shoes, my foot sometimes gets caught on the brake pedal when I go hit the gas... or when I'm getting off the gas it will get caught on the back of the brake.

should have gotten a stick, the manual pedals are really far apart. if it really bothers you that bad im sure you could just cut off some excess pedal with a saws all.

Thanks for getting back so quickly. I see that there are Razo pedals on the web that may be smaller. has anyone used those? Or ever replaced the pedals?

I imagine the auto and manual brake levers are the same. If so you could just get a manual brake pedal and put that on there.

Or put all three there and hold down the clutch while you shift from 1st to 2nd in your auto... it quickens the response time.

I just bought another 4th gen and noticed the same thing. When I wear any kind of Sketchers my right foot will catch on the brake pedal and I have a size 10.5 shoe. It may have something to do with the angle of my foot or something, time to trim that baby down a little...the brake pedal that is.

Oh yeah definitly doable. Just when I wear my Tims that I wear to work it sucks. Skechers and boots like that are ok nowhere near as bad as Tims.
