Headlight harnesses burning out
Headlight harnesses burning out
Just wondering why the harnesses burn out, is it just solely due to the heat? or is it something more?
Say for instance just changing the bulbs from 55w to 110w, would that be the cause of the harness burning? or is there more to it?
if i were to run two seperate housings with their own wires from the main headlight wire harness split to two seperate 55w bulbs, would the original harness then, NOT burn out?
thanks it all makes sense in my head just dont know why i can't figure out the answer on my own

the higher wattage bulb is whats causing the burnout. The OEM harnesses can't withstand the wattage, therefore forcing you to pull over and jiggle with it until the headlight comes back on.
southwestautoworks sells the nokya upgraded wiring harness. I suggest you use that.
Nokya harnesses don't look like the high end high watt harnesses, you know with the ground and everything, but they work pretty good I've had mine for about a year with MTEC 80/110 bulbs and have had no troubles yet. You can't beat the price. Oh yeah, I don't use my high beams ever with these bulbs that could be another reason the harness has lasted so long.
thanks, the reason i asked is because of something else that im doing, as long as it's the high wattage/heat that causes the burn and not the total amount of wattage going through the wires im good to go.
oh and still, no one answered this question....
