advice on how i should buy my exhaust

well eventually i know i want to fully replace my exhaust on my car. it would be great if i could get warpspeeds full setup but it would take me forever to save up $600+ because i would have to take it to a shop to get proper fitment. so my question is should i just save it and buy it all at one time or should i buy it piece by piece as i get the money. if i did the latter i would probably get ypipe first, muffler and tip, then resonated bpipe and not even buy a high flow cat. so what do you guys think?

Either way you do it, you'll spend about the same amount of $

Id advise you to buy 1 thing at a time..that way youre more than likely to come across good deals of new/used products.

If i had to do it again and when i replace what i have i will go with all stainless all the way back. I would not have gotten aluminized steel. Save up and get something good that will last you!

if you are installing it yourself, one piece at a time isn't bad. If you are having it installed at a shop, it may cost you more doing one piece at a time.

definitely once peice at a time... i would get the y-pipe first, that gives you the most hp and you'll see the most noticeable gains from that

I was going to ask the same questions. I had my car up on a life last week, and there are a number of pieces that are corroded, thanks to all of the salt and snow in the NE area. I am going to replace the entire system, but will more than likely do it one piece at a time.

what are you guys talking about.
SS is nice and all but you never see it. a waste imo
my custom bent exhaust will last longer then my car guaranteed.

budget y pipe: 200 shipped
stock cat: free
2.5 custom bent cat back 100
muffler: 50-200 i reccomend a SS magnaflow
install for everything another 100

400-600 installed with a y pipe.

most good shops cut you a deal on the $ if your doing the whole works at once.

it will be just as good as a ss catback. and cheaper.

you can add a resonator later to tone the exhausts down a little...50-80 installed

i did mine one at a time. looking back i'd do it all at once. would have saved me $$$
just because it looks all corroded doesn't mean it's not fine...NE beats the crap out of metal...
don't do the catback without the Y, it would be pointless. just noise.
also it feels really nice to hear a full new exhaust roar....vvrroooom!!!

You can get a warpspeed cat-back for $250, y-pipe for $180.
Reuse the stock cat. total = $430 plus shipping.

i saw u first find out wat kinda mods u want in the future. if u ever want to go f/i then u might want to wait on the exhaust until u make up yur mind if u want turbo or s/c. if s/c then u could buy the 3" set up they have and kill two birds with one stone.

this is just my opinion.. but honestly i wouldnt waste the money in getting a full exhaust.. unless you are going forced induction.. the y-pipe gets you the most hp gains.. and then everything after that is just minimal.. yeah i think the b-pipe (that replaces the last cat) gets you like 5 hp.. but id rather have my car sounding decent than trying to get an extra 5 on it.. but everything else after that has just showed like a 2-3 hp gain.. its just me but i cant see spending several hundred dollars on getting something that isnt going to get me anything but maybe a good sound (depending on the setup).. id personally spend my money elsewhere.. again this is just my opinion.. if you are looking for a decent sound then i would go with something like torgus said.. getting a custom bent setup made.. just make sure its mandrel bent.. or its not worth it.. and then get the muffler/tip of your choice.. wouldnt recommend anything more than a 2.5 inch diameter though if youre doin a n/a setup.. 3 inch for forced induction.. like liquidvenom said.. its all on what your going to do with your car..

well I dont think i will ever go f/i so i dont have to worry about getting a full 3in. system. however i do plan to replace my muffler because the one that came with my car was something the guy before me put on and its the worst muffler i have ever seen. seriously the tip is maybe an inch in diameter, im talking like stock crx stuff- ick i hate my muffler. so if im positive that i will want a ypipe and a new muffler i guess im looking at 3 options.

i could:
1. get the full system from warpspeed- but is the hiflow cat really worth the extra money?
2. get the wsp y and quiet catback
3. just get a wsp y and my dynomax muffler and tip from like autozone and hope the muffler shop can do a good job putting my new muffler on my stock b.

any choice i make i will take it to a shop to get everything installed. this isnt because I am not capable of doing it myself, i just know i couldnt do as good a job as a professional could with fitment and overall install quality. sure you might be able to brag oh, "well i put that in myself"- but if your pipes are banging up against your car and you have a lot of rattles then you did a half-assed job of installing something. if im going to do something im going to do it right, and if by doing it right means taking it to a shop to install it then so be it.
