fstb doesnt fit, need help!

alright, i got this fstb from my buddy off of his 98.

so now im trying to put it on and on the strut tower(right side) theres this "mystery bracket" that prevents the fstb from getting into place.

ive tried putting the fstb in the reverse way, but the holes arent lined up to fit onto the screws(dunno the correct term...heh)

ive also tried taking this "mystery bracket" off but that isnt working too well. ive been told to use a chisel+hammer, dremel, etc, but it isnt working out too well, so yea wat am i spose to do!!!!

it seems like this bracket is molded/glued onto the metal, but in some spots its like welded to the metal or something and its really tough to budge!

hope those pix help

more info-my car is 99 cali spec

99 cali here also, just use whatever is needed to cut that **** off. Some guys who installed it didn't have too much of a problem with it.

dremel will get the job done, sparks means metal-metal contact, nothing serious

+1 on the hacksaw. I got a chisel, that didn't work. so got me a $5 hacksaw from walmart and voila. The metal isn't welded on, it's like a type of bondo, so if you keep it closest to the body, it'll be less elbow grease on your part. good luck, i feel you. I was so frustrated when I was doing mine in 30 degree weather hehe.
