Cost for a 2k or 01 'recycled' tranny

Just curious how much people are actually paying for a recycled replacement 2k or 01 tranny (excluding labor). Car-parts.com has a couple of listings, but they seem kind of expensive ($800-900) for a just the part. Also, please let me know if you get anything back for the core.

My 97 SE has a differential seal leak, although no whining or shift problems. After looking at my service records, it appears that I have had this leak for at least 18 months. The leak seems to have become slightly worse since I replaced my clutch and I am preparing for the worst. I plan to replace the seal once and use heavier than normal gear oil for the summer (probably a 90/140W mix). If that fails, I'll replace the tranny. Thanks in advance...

You answered your own question. FYI, I paid $1300 for an '01 AE with axles shipped. The yard you get yours from will probably not want a broken tranny. You gotta find somebody that wants one cheap for a 5Spd swap because there is an abundance of junked 5Spd trannies out there. Nobody is gonna but a busted up or failing tranny for more than $100.
