HELP, question for the electrically inclined

while installing my 99 gauges in my 96 i hit some wire that i shouldnt have, basically it was the airbag light to a constant, i heard a little snap crackle pop, now my air bag light wont go off even if that wire is not connected. what can i do to get the light off?

inside the guages got a little smokey, but is there a way to fix it without having to take apart the whole gauges

first off dont do anything else to it. 2nd i hate to tell ya but take it into the dealer before you start the process of blowing the airbag cause your really going to pay then. But if you must, find the area that smoked (yes take it apart) then if you cant locate it take it to the stealership and have it done. airbags are to expensive to f around with. that cracling sound you heard was either a wire or a small circit board look for it.

it was the gauges, will that really set the airbag off?
