Temp gauge running like crazy :(

Hello
My temp gauge is working like crazy. While driving my car it stays in it's normal position, and after couple of minutes it raising up to the red field. After few seconds it's returning back to normal position.

This happends when car is parked and when it's moving.

What should I chceck ?

Thx

It's probably water pump. There is small leak located next to it
My mechanic told me, that for 99%, water pump is not working properly...

How much do I have to pay for new/used one.
Is it difficult to remove it and place new one ?

water pump I believe is about $80 (www.jerryromenissan.com)

changing it if you had a shop do it would prob charge around $200 in labour (just a guess), if you could do it yourself there is a write up int he how to's

Same thing happened to me a few months ago. It could also be your radiator fans. Check to see if they turn on when your parked. If not than that is your problem
