JET Computer Chip Upgrade, worth the $?
JET Computer Chip Upgrade, worth the $?
ok, i decided to drop the underdrive pulley and flywheel and am now considering about the chip.
Custommaxima sells it for $349, kinda expensive and says this:
WHAT WILL IT DO FOR MY VEHICLE??
The upgrade will provide you with 15+ horsepower gain and improved acceleration. Unlike other Computer upgrades, JET's exclusive Dynamic Spectrum Tuning (DST) provides power increases all the time, NOT just at wide open throttle. In addition, by having the computer in JET's lab, the JET engineers can custom program the chip for any other modifications you have done to your vehicle.
does anybody have this, and can you actually notice the gains, or improved MPG and wht not?? takin out the old ECU is easy is it not?

Problem with JWT is it's much more expensive than that, 595 + shipping and maybe a core so you can minimize downtime whcih is anywher from 75-100 on top of that.
But it does give proven gains.
But it does give proven gains.
Don't quite understand.
What would you rather spend $ on?
1) Jet that's cheaper ($395) but doesn't do squat diddly hoo-hoo
2) Or the JWT that's $600 but actually gives gains.

He can get TS for less downtime.

also getting the ecu out is a B*tch(well it was for me). there are four screws on each side front and back that u have to unscrew with an offset screwdriver. the concept doesn't sound to bad until u have to do the back two screws(very limited space to move around).

thanks

get the Y first, but you'll probably get even more smitten by the mod bug, and pretty soon, as you run out of other mods, you'll come back to considering the ecu again...
just out of curiosity.. i always hear ppl saying that the jet chip is crap.. but no one ever says whats wrong with it.. i mean has anyone ever shown actual proof of what it does/doesnt do like a dyno of what it does compared to a ts or jwt.. or has it messed up anyones motor or anything.. dont get me wrong im not backing them or anything just wondering whats actually wrong with the ecu..
ill tell you whats wrong it dosent do anything i had it got rid of it. biggest waste of money there is. i didnt feel any gains at all..i mean come on dosent it seem funny that only jet chip would be able to do anything with the 99 ecu. and jwt or ts cant do nothing.

Another thing is they don't really say what they do....they just claim to "gain more HP"...."dynamic tuning".....it's a bunch of BS. If they really truely can reprogram our ECU's for any modification we have then I would like to see them do it for 550cc injectors, Z32 MAF, and extend the redline. Good luck with that.
Oh, and any company who just plain makes a obviously fake dyno graph should be avoided at all costs.
what is the next power mod after intake/ypip , catback. ? udp i heard it doesent do anything. ecu jwt like said before its $$ and has downtime and the TS ecu doesent have rev limiter removed for 5sp's .. mevi/00V doesent increase power just gives u back top end so thats not power mod. and boost is just expensive.. maybe nos?

Your right, I would not worry about getting a UDP
JWT is the one who can remove the rev limiter. Technosquare still has yet to do it. Auto or 5spd doens't matter
MEVI and 00VI do add power....almost 30whp more at redline. The difference is that the 00VI seems to give a little better gains all around and does not loose as much or any mid range power like the MEVI.
If your not looking to spend a bucnh of money then you probably shoud not be modding your car. With that said, it sounds like you should just go with the technosquare ECU since you don't want to spend the extra on the JWT and if that is a concern you are not going to want to drop the $$ on a different intake manifold either. JWT is the way to go if your going with an MEVI or 00VI. Techosquare if your staying with the stock manifold.
It is nitrous oxide, not NOS. NOS is a brand name of a company that produces nitrous oxide systems for cars. But yes, if you want cheap power that is for you. Just make sure you know what your doing.
the jet chip is wonderful i had it for three months and now i can keep up with anything. on the 1/4 mile im running 19's after install. my next modd is the electric supercharger from ebay. i dont know what everyone else is talking about?
