If your going to be doing you own mechanical work the FSM (Factory Service Manual) is a must have. They generally run $90+. I gernerally use it as a companion the the Chiltons and/or Haynes manuals. The Chiltons/Haynes give a good description for beginners and the FSM has all the details that the Chiltons/Haynes manuals lack.
I would even recomend them if you don't plan on making your own repairs so you know what is involved in a repair so you aren't fed a line of BS.

The '98 manual I posted will apply 99% to a '95 Maxima. Only a few things (mainly emissions and interior electronics, I think) are different. If you're looking for mechanical/engine stuff, it will be fine.
Here's a link to an article detailing the differences in the FSM/Haynes/Chiltons manuals.
