Starter Problem-Help

Just replaced my battery w/a new battery & had the starter rebuilt because of a bad starter. Now, the engine doesn't even want to crank over. When the ignition is turned over the car does nothing at all. Could there be a bad fuse? I checked the voltage at the starter & it is 12.7v.& when the ignition is turned- the single wire reads 10.5V. Is there a way to check the starter with a battery charger or cables? What voltages should it be reading? Could a sensor be out?

Did they bench-test the starter after they rebuilt it?

starter switch

try jiggling the key in the ignition switch, specifically pushing the key in towards the steering column while the key is in the start position.
the ignition switch is known to go bad, and I have one of the bad ones.

I don't know if they bench tested it after the rebuild. I assumed they had. As far as the ignition switch I just replaced it around 1 month ago & took the ignition switch out today & tested it by using a screwdriver to turn the slot & the car still did nothing. Are there any switches that need to be in the contact closed position in order for the car to start?

if you changed the battery and nothing works, I'd say the fuseable link located ~6 inches from the battery is a good place to start.

Is there any power to anything when you open the door? when you turn the key?

Yes, my headlights work- all electronics work. You can even hear the relays (by the fuse block-under the drivers dash) click when the ignition key is turned to the start position. It just doesn't do anything. Where does the fusible link go to?

your getting 10.5 volts from the battery to the starter through the starter wire? thats not enough voltage. you probably have high resistance on the power side or the ground side. check by doing a voltage drop test.
