1995 Maxima ECU A18-E24-ER5 can you help with information.....?
A friend of mine needs to replace the ECU in his 1995 Nissan Maxima, it's an SE I believe, AT, Leather, pretty well loaded. One of the fuel injector wiring harnesses was chewed by a squirrel or mouse and shorted out. It blew the ECCS No. 2 10Amp fuse. We replaced it and re-wired the fuel injector and got the car running. However the Number 2 cylinder and fuel injector are running with a constant delivery of fuel, there is no pulse. It appears after testing that the ECU is shorted when the two exposed wires for the fuel injector touched and killed the engine. So the fuel injector for the number 2 cylinder is ALWAYS spraying as much fuel as possible into the cylinder. The ECU number is A18-E24-ER5, I can't find any information on the ECU nor can I verify if another ECU will work correctly in it's place. The car was manufactured in 4/95. Any help would be so incredibly apperciated. Thanks for any insight.

Go to www.car-parts.com and look at the ECU's available for a 95 maxima. Many of them have the part # listed in the discription. Match one up and order it.

Thanks for the information. Unfortunately none of the 1995 or 1996 Maxima ECUs they have listed match with the manufactured date on the door sticker, 4/95. At this point my biggest issue is how compatible are the different ECUs? Apparently my buddies Maxima is the oddball.

Your early mfg date of 4/95 might be causing your hard time loacting an ECU. The very first 4th gen Maxima's were not OBDII compatable, there are only a few around and you might have one of them.
Nissan might be the only place to order that ECU from.

Actually all listed 4th Gen Maximas (including the 1995's) are ODBII. This one is, it has an ODBII connector right at the ECU. My ODBII scanner connected to it no problem. This (Nissan Maximas in general) was apparently one of the first manufactured cars before 1996 to be ODBII. After some more searching I did find it on www.car-parts.com under a different manufactured date it had the same ECU code of A18-E24-ER5. So hopefully it will be reasonably priced. Thanks for the info folks.

The 96 model year was probably in showrooms by late 3rd QTR 95. It can take several months for the assembly plants to re-tool, depending on the complexity of the changes between model years. Therefore 95 model year production would have to end fairly early in 1995, if not late 94.
