As you may have already heard, lowering springs can put more stress on your original struts than tolerances may allow. Your struts may fail if you lower the car and push it hard. That will definitely affect ride quality.
Honestly, I have no idea what the probability of your struts failing is; I suggest you don't wait more than 8-9,000 miles before replaing them if you lower the car.

I think I had my Eibach springs w/ my orginal struts for approx 3 years. I had not problems w/ my struts failing. I just recently changed them to Tokico Illuminas. The struts were still fine when I changed them. IMO the ride quality did not improve as much as I would have hoped w/ the Illuminas. The ride quality definetly was harsher w/ the Eibachs.
