o2 Sensor question

o2 Sensor question

if i were to put the exhaust from my 96 on to my new 98 and relocate the rear o2 sensor to after-cat would that trigger check engine light

Check the part numbers at http://www.buyoxygensensors.com/ for the two o2 sensors. If they are the same part, you should be fine.

Both 96 and 98 have a downstream O2 sensor. The 96 is a three-wire titania type and the 98 is a four-wire zirconia type. They are not interchangeable. The threading is also different.

If you want a sensor to thread into the existing bung on your 96 exhaust and work with your 98 ecu, you will need a four-wire zirconia type with a 12mm thread. This will not be available as an OEM sensor. You will have to buy a universal type and splice into the existing harness.

Your other option is to have an 18mm bung welded into your exhaust downstream of the cat and then use a standard OEM 1998 rear O2 sensor.

Geez, you know alot about them. I just called em heated and non-heated. Never heard about the threading diffs either.
