Rear exhaust ?

I change my rear muffler/exhaust and put the round one with the 3' tip. does this change the gas milage? seems like I'm getting less mile out of a tank of gas, could this be one of the causes?

Thanks - TMaxx

I doubt it has anything to do with your gas mileage.

Is it loud? Are you driving harder because you like the sound?

I didnt know Maximas had a front muffler??

I highly doubt it caused your gas mileage to drop. Like Hammer said.....do you drive harder now that it sounds better?

I just wanted to make sure, I was thinking about removing it. When I first got the Max I change the rims which didn't effect the gas mileage, and I changed the exhaust and then I started to notice a decrease in gas mileage. So I decided to wait until I got a tune to see if that was the case, I just got a tune up and I only notice I get about 5 more miles to the gallon. But if you all think it's not the exhaust I'll leave it on. And no I don't drive any different because 1. I have the silencer inside the tip and can't hear it anyway and 2. I like to hear my bass!!

Thanks - TMaxx

I don't see anywhere in my post that I said Maximas have a front muffler.
I just didn't want you to think I was talking about cat back or complete exhaust system, which I don't have, I only change the rear muffler. If you knew that Maximas don't have a front muffler then what's the problem.

Haha. Ignore those guys. Theoretically speaking a straight through muffler should save you gas mileage.

If your new rims are heavier than stock, that should be huritng you gas mileage and performance. Plus and extra 5mpg with a tune up is substantial, unless you were getting like 10mpg.

You said rear muffler.....(as if there was a front one)....Maximas only have ONE muffler, and it's ALWAYS in the rear. It was funny cuz no one's ever referred to it like that.

seriously though, if you got 5 more mpg after a tune up you had some other issues, and i bet that you're rims are affecting things more than you think and the way you drive has probably changed after the muffler install.
