Thanks for the update Zeus97MAX, because only then did the idea of the side airbag come about.

fyi kid, i never claimed i was right, nor was i debating about the issue. The guy is selling them, and im interested. It was the only picture he provided, and i have never seen that before on a 4th gen max. I wouldnt post a thread to bash him if he was wrong and have you all laugh at him. I have better things to do. I just needed the clarification from the org for myself. nevertheless...

I am becoming more and more ashamed to call myself a maxima.org member... you guys seem to have nothing better to do than laugh and joke about members' questions. I'm also a member of jeepforums.com and i have yet to see any unprofessional behavior like this, in ANY of their threads. What a shame.

And, before you all ask me why I don't drop the Max and drive a Honda instead, remember the reason we are all here is to provide a place where people with similar interests can meet and discuss topics pertaining to their maximas. I like my car and wouldn't give it up for anything, but it saddens me to see that I share similar interests with persons as basal as some members here.

Next time you want to rag on someone, try a chat room. You may feel more at home.

eturnl, the "kid" you are talking to/about is only 3 years younger than you. also, your responses weren't as funny as you thought they'd be.

either way, they may be i30 seats, if that matters. my *** doesnt have that shat, so im dead either way

You could always not come back... that would avoid all the hassles.

Just give it up, you got owned by a bunch of "kids."

We all made stupid assumptions about Maximas at some point. eturnl, chill out. Sit back and laugh at this amusing thread instead of getting upset. This is an extremely civil forum of very intelligent people. But we like to have fun, so if you post a question commonly understood as "stupid", you will get bashed.

Now you know about side airbags, we had a laugh, no harm done in the end! See you around.

iirc, they are in fact Maxima seats...check out the rear headrests. Infiniti rear headrests are different.

That's true. When I got my Maxima SE new in 1998, I treated the forum as if people knew everything. They had a chart showing a 2-5 HP gain by simply dropping in a K&N panel. I went out and bought it, while a guy in my office said what a sucker I was. Of course in retrospect, I now the K&N does not add any value whatsoever and I wasted the $40 plus paid for 2 cleaning kits. 2 HP?? Yeah, right. 5? Good luck.

The premium vs. regular unleaded, synthetic oil vs. dino juice. 18" rims are slower. Optima batteries. It's amazing how many wrong decisions a newcomer could make.

In retrospect, I wonder why people here didn't get into Subarus instead of Maximas. Everything people wish for (is there a RWD Maxima coming, AWD Maxima, how to make the steering better, on and on and on to no end) is basically there in the Subarus. When they have a manual tranny, the AWD is 50/50. When they have an auto, it's 55 front and 45 rear. Even the latter is a lot more RWD'ish than a Maxima, which is 100/0. Take a look at the Subaru standard features list, right down to the heated washer nozzles. Not bad for Indiana built cars......

Listen to people around here and you can add 100hp to your car easy...

Intake = 10hp
"better" filter than what the intake comes with = 5hp
headers = 20hp
exhaust = 20hp
clean the throttle body = "frees up" 5hp
seafoam = 5hp
synthetic oil = 5hp
redline tranny fluid = 5hp
weight reduction = acts like it adds 20hp
super ultra race gas = 5hp

.....the list goes on. Basically people want to think they didn't waste money so they can "feel the difference"

Don't forget that I get 3 mpg better in the city (actually I can't calculate that, I just notice about 200 more miles per tankful of 97 octane fuel) with my K&N and I can drive it 300,000 miles before I clean it, because when dirt sees my oiled K&N it just goes away, unlike the paper filter in which case it just embeds itself! *LOL*

Oh ok by your priginal post, I didn't realize you were so full of knowledge. First you didnt know what side restraints were, and now you even know what year they came about. Very impressive.
