Got home tonight at 202,6XX miles. Things that have been replaced because of failures (not mods):

1x O2 sensor
1x Knock Sensor
1x Coolant Temp Sensor
1x Left Front Ball Joint
1x Left Front spindle bearing
1x Left Rear brake caliper
1x starter motor (preventatively b/c I knew it was going and didn't want to get stuck on a long trip)
Everything else is original!

I'm still amazed at how smooth and strong that car is. I'm definetly shooting for 300k.

1995 Maxima 5 speed 170K still runs strong with minor wear and tear stuff need fixing.
1995 Maxima Auto 140K 2 transmission jobs in 1 month. Not complaining. I beat on it.

If this was OT, the things I would say to you ..... lol .....

And it looks like I jinxed myself talking up my car all last week -- went out on Saturday and bought me a system (2 Fosgate 12" w/ a Fosgate 1200 amp and a QLogic box -- WOO!!) and as I was pulling out of Best Buy parking lot to the right, I noticed a "pop" coming from the passenger side front.

Grrr ...

It repeated itself again when I made another sharp turn to the right out of another parking lot.

Grrr ....

Looks like the Passenger side Axel is going bad, at least .. it sounds that way. I will get it checked out some time this week.
That kinda pisses me off, but I guess it's about that time.

223923 hereon my 95. Recently change the knock sensor and crank sensor. About to change the O2 sensors in about 2 weeks. All pumps and belts are fine. The clutch slave cylinder seems to be leaking so that will be replaced shortly. Other than that everything is fine.

146XXX on my 89. Replaced pwr steering hose about 4 months ago. The only thing wrong is i need a new Radiator support.

They're both still running strong.

I remember seeing a guy on here that was from the midwest, I think he had something like 270k miles on a '97. I don't remember his name though. Anyone?

I saw this and had to send you a link that my brother gave me about bose cd players acting up. A buddy of his owns a 95 Maxima and fixed the cd (something about the sound, I think). Not sure if it will help you but maybe it will. It also includes instructions for fixing the display. Good luck.
http://madchef.5u.com/maxima/bose/intro.html

I am at 204K and always brag about the reliability. I had a Sentra before that never failed me. I only smile when I see cars along side the road with problems. Poor people, they must not know about driving a Nissan and the luxury of knowing you won't see that side of the road.

I've had to change the knock sensor, belts, brakes (rotors and pads), y-pipe, both front ball-joints (one was for maint. reasons, the other due to an accident--but at least now they are both new!) and then the regular maint. I am about to repair the Rear O2 sensor, CV boots and oil pressure gauge. My only worry is that I am about to drop $750 on these repairs and wondering if there is more on the horizon. My brother doesn't want to **** away hours working on the boots. (Appx. how long of a repair time is this. He is quite knowledgeable) If so, is it worth the repairs cost or should I just invest in a new Maxima. I won't consider buying anything but.

Any advice?

It depends on the condition of your car and your wallet. If the car's running great and you don't forsee anything else going wrong with it, it'll probably cost you a lot less per mile than getting another car. If it's really starting to show signs of age then maybe it's time for retirement. Personally I'd be inclined to fix it and keep her running.

My car's got 203k and I'm hoping to get at least another 3 years out of her (60,000) until I finally finish school.

The car is running great but by the time I drop $750 now. I'm sure I'll be due for new brakes soon, probably some more sensors will go (I assume this from reading on here), struts, axles, etc. Now we're talking severalK. Maybe I'm just gettin nervous. I haven't had to put any $$ into it til now. Plus, I just recently paid off all debt and am enjoying that freedom. Not that $$ is growing on trees around here, either. Not sure what to do.

what happened to that guy with like 365K on his 95 or something....as I recall he used to take to the strip once a month also...he also dynoed and got perfect compression #'s as well as dyno #'s....he swears the only secret to such success was changing the oil every 3K miles with 10W30 mobil 1 supersyn...

What should I do when it hits that mark? Plugs just got replaced, oil is changed every 3,000 anyway, all the filters are new.
I just feel that I am missing something.

I think maybe I might throw a party. Get a banner "200,000 and still going stronger than your Ford"

I don't know. I can't believe it's gone so quick. In the last 6 months I've put 30,000 miles on my car. *sob* The memories.
Sounds good--I'm at 104k and decided to let it go another 18 months or so. That would make my car 8 1/2. I am so bored with this car, but short of the exhaust starting to rattle and having to reset the airbag lamp now and then, nothing wrong. I figure I'll be at 125-130k by then, and I will have my ducks so in a row I should be good with the new 330i. I drool every time I see that car online. If I see another car mag say that BMW "hit another home run" with the new 3 I may buy it next month!!! Dang that thing will be on the 10 Best list for over a decade, along with the Civic.

I really wish Nissan would build their trannies like they do engines. My 65k mile 5spd tranny is starting to crap out, even before my engine, which is running strong at 180k.

The most I've seen posted for a 4th Gen is about 265K and a couple at 261K say 2 months ago. There should be some in the 300K club in anothe 18 t0 24 months.

I remember a post about 6 months or so ago about an early 3rd Gen in for service and the pic of the odometer showed something like 430K. The car was in a shop. It was utterly filthy and there was a picture of the owner hanging from the rear-view mirror. The car was black and it was a pigsty. Does anyone remember that one?
