hey i was jus thinking of other things to do to the max and then this stumbled across my mind....Anyone with experience with the ur udp, is it worth getting. i understand that it produces(well free's up) like 5-10hp? and u can get it for like 130 plus new belts(dont know the cost) or is this jus something for hardcore people who want to squeeze out every peice of hp

depends on what other mods you have... i would get y pipe first. i highly doubt you will get one for that price.. they are like 2 bills. and then you can go buy the belts and the auto parts store.. i got mine from stillen. bought the belts and pulley from them

Really it's only like 2 hp. More importantly thought, it allows your accessories to rotate slower there for extending their life. Because it's lighter, I noticed eaiser startup also.
Woth the money? Yes and no. Would I do it again? probably.
Oh and sometimes you can find the udp with a "blemish" on it for less $'s on the unorodox site.

exactly... not on the must have list... I did mine because the stearlship wanted like 160 bux to change the 2 belts. I figured at that time I might as well spend a few $'s extra and get it done.

i got mine in a gd for difinitive motorsports about a year ago. it was 80 shipped!!!!!!! because they wer defective, (anodized finish didnt come out right) but the pulley its self was 100% functional. turns out i got a pulley with a nice finish anyway. not a blemish at all.

i bought it because it was dirt cheap and i had a lil extra money. i cant say i noticed anything much because i installed my y-pipe and muffler all at the same time practically.

It is a good mod for the money, especialy if you can put it on your self.
you dont get much HP but its only about 200$.
As for catback whick gives the same gains and cost about $500

And it realy noticable if you already have a exhaust and intake and stuff to.

Why recommend it if you couldn't tell a difference? The only benefit to this mod i see is extending the life of the alternator by allowing it to spin slower. No others have been proven.

Edit: Somebody pleeeaaase prove me wrong

(look at the dyno at the bottom)

http://forum.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=378818 (this is the origonal post) seems to be alot of disagreement to whether or not this "mod" does anything

i cant honestly say that this mod didnt give me something.. no, your bang for the buck isnt as comparible to changing out y-pipes... but its not like this thing doesnt help out.. i noticed that after i installed mine that it did rev quicker.. which is logical seeing as it frees up weight.. and also that yes it did add hp (on average 5hp, thats if you dont have anything else done).. the major difference i noticed is how well the motor seemed to repsond even when i had the a/c running.. you will still notice a difference in power while running the a/c compared to when its off.. but it still helps out considerably.. the only thing that i dont like about mine is that i have the one thats smaller in diameter than stock.. the only problem with this is that yes it may save the life of you alternator, but its not going to save the lif of your battery.. if im sitting at the light (at night) lights on and a/c or heater on, my engine isnt turning my alternator enough for the load i am putting on it with all the power consumption.. this intern isnt hurting my alternator but its putting a strain on my battery.. all in all i would suggest that if you do decide on getting this mod to go with the stock size one.. of course its not going to be as light as the smaller one.. but you will still notice a difference for sure.. and just remember that the more performance mods you add the more you will get out of each mod.. especially if you udgrade ecu.. this will help fine tune and pull the most hp out of all your mods combined.. so whether or not you should get the udp.. like you said thats a matter of opinion.. but if i where you i would get this over a catback exhaust.. everything after the last cat only adds like 2hp if replaced.. ill gaurentee this will add more than that, and your not going to spend near as much.. also (just my opinion) dont get the mevi get the VI manifold..
