Exhaust has Exhausted me......

Hi boys, I've been on this forum for two weeks straight trying to get advice on a cat back system from a custom exhaust shop. I don't want any greddy, cattman etc. Just a simple custom bent ss B-pipe, resonator or two and a decent sounding muffler without sounding obnoxious. I originally was going to go with the above mentioned set-up only with a Magnaflow #14827 and was told it would sound like sh**! So WTF, I'll see what the experts at the shop suggest I do. I don't have nor do I want any y-pipe or cat. Justa nice sound with a little growl.
Thanks for the help.
Jeff

Well, I definitely planned on a resonator, this shop I'm going to, is supposed to be the best around, family owned etc and been in business for 40 years. You're talking about a Magnaflow exhaust. I'm just getting the muffler.

Exhausts are so hard to decide on. You don't know what it sounds like until you get it installed. You could give people on this forum 20 different set-up ideas, and half will say it's going to sound like sh**, and the other half will tell you it will sound nice. Anyway, I have a stock y-pipe, and cat. I'm doing a ss B-pipe, with a resonator and a Magnaflow #14827 muffler. Maybe 2 resos if it will help.

Very true.

For what it's worth, I think I'm going to get a 2.5" catback with 2 resonators and the quietest muffler they have at the shop. I don't care how big the muffler is, I'm not a big fan of the big muffler tips anyway. I'd like something with maybe a 2.5" tip or less. Plus, if I buy the muffler at the shop, I automatically get a lifetime warranty so if it starts to suck I can just replace it.

Yeah, I may just ask at the shop to give me something that's not obnoxious but has a nice sound. Shouldn't be too hard to fulfill.

i dont know for certain, but im not sure you would have a nasty sounding exhaust if you are running the stock ypipe, stock cat and stock b pipe. from what i have read on these forums its when you get an aftermarket ypipe that things start going wrong with the overall sound. im thinking you will be okay

When i get some money, i am doing the same setup as MAXIMABOY (SS B-pipe w/ resonator and Magnaflow). I have heard a few sound clips of set-ups very close to this and i like it.

MAXIMABOY- When u get it installed, can you try to make sound clips?

The magnaflow is going to be loud, just thought you should know.

Make sure they put the resos on the right way too, mine is on backwards and not reducing sound levels at all. Idiot exhaust laborer does this crap all day and he put it on backwards. What a *******.

Why buy a catback exhaust if you aren't going to buy a y-pipe and you don't want your car to be louder? There is no point. You are wasting your time and money. If you want a stock growl go buy a new V6 or V8 car.
