Antenna relocation

There are a few of you that shaved the antenna and rewired it to the top of the car (volkswagon style). How is the reception and was there a writeup lying around here?

what I wanna know is can you get one of those small antennas like sat. radio uses and hook your radio up to it, i'd love to ditch the mast antenna and smooth out that area, looks unbalanced to me.

I did this....I got the fuba antenna off ebay...it looks nice but the reception sux. I had a piece of metal welded over the stock antenna spot. Then had a hole drilled in the roof for the new antenna, then I ran the antenna wire from the deck around the passenger side floor all the way to the pillar all the way in the back (between rear window and rear windshield), then into the head liner. I am happy with it just because of the look.
