MacPherson Struts....

I need to replace all 4 struts on 96 GXE max. Over 210K miles.
Just looking for a good ride and no lowering.
Can get rear macpherson struts from Ebay for $69.
Questions:
1) Are these any good?
2) Compared to KYB Gr2? Is there a tremendous difference?
2) If I get the rear do I need to get the same model for the front? Or can I use another similar model? If so what is similar?

I looked thru a lot of posts, FAQ's, and still could not see what was needed when replacing the struts as far as "extras". Bushings/bearings, noise dampener, etc...

Need help from fellow Maxima diehards....

Just get a set of GR2s and be done with it. Youll be happy with the ride and without aftermarket springs, it wont be but MAYBE .25" lower. I doubt even that much.

with stock springs, how would it be any lower at all? struts dont control ride height, thats left to the springs.

So the macpherson struts at 69.00 for a new set is not a good deal? Again I just need to replace the stock and probably will keep the car only a year or two more. Its had its day in the sun (9 glorious years). Is it not good to mix match struts? On the web I could not find anyone selling macpherson stuts for the maxima.

Put a set of Tokico Blue performance struts and rear shocks on the car. They will give your Maxima that new car ride again. You should also replace the dust boots when you replace the struts/shocks. You can find the Tokico Blue's on ebay or at most dot com automotive shops relatively cheap.

Anything from KYB will give you a very firm ride. Monroe SensaTrac might be a descent stock replacement as well.
