Is a MacPherson strut a type of strut or an actual brand? I think I have a strut rattle and my extended warrenty lists that it covers "MacPerson strut assemblies"...any idea??

what? i think you need to read the link he put up there. the difference is where it is and how it incorporates the strut and spring. it can have ball mounts, but A-arms also have ball mounts.
