pic of my TB, for cleaning
pic of my TB, for cleaning
so here's a pic of the general area with some things outlined...
i swear i looked at motorvate.ca's pictures showing the same thing...but what throws me off are the arrows, they could point to two things sometimes. and some things are assumed ultra easy, and not explained. all in all im just easily confused and i thought i could do this instead.
TB pic heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere
[the hosting is geocities and the bandwidth runs out]
outlined in red i think is the MAF sensor?? i tried getting it off but cant find out HOW. there's a light green something, that you can push inwards on the top of the connector. i tried pushing this in while i pulled a bit, but no budge. i duno how to get this off!
i would try prying but its better to know what im doing first..
in the tutorials they just say..."disconnect the MAF" and dont elaborate much. since im reaaaly new, i need this kind of hting explained a bit more. i dont want to do something im not sure of.
when i drew these green outlines in the pic i was thinking of taking the 4 bolts off and removing the part from there up to the TB ,but now when i look at these pic's i took...i can see these brackets holding the top part of the box on? should i do that instead? motorvate.ca doesnt have the same box in their pics, hes got a Stillen Cone filter from a NX-2000.
the yellow outlining the clamp rings is simple enough i can figure that one out. ^^
if you look at the tutorial here and to the bottom of the page. second to last row of pictures there's a single screw to take out but mine doesnt have it. atleast not the way its shown in this pic. i found on on the opposite side of mine that i think is the same but it wont come loose.
thanks for bearing with me here, if someone wants to help then thanks in advance! newbie headaches

the brackets are just to hold the air box together, they are used to change your air filter.
As for that screw not being the same, well his is a canadian max, so it might be slightly different. If you want to send me that picture, chickan at gmail dot com, I'd be happy to look at it for you. Right now I'm at work, and don't have the time to go down at look at my max.

thanks Chickan, sent it thru email.

Just unscrew the clamp that connects the flex hose to your TB, and disconnect the hoses you have yellow circles around. Flip open the clamps that are holding the airbox together, and disconnect the MAF. You seem to have been doing it right by pressing the green release inward towards the intake itself...sometimes it just takes some work. Do NOT pry or attempt to get it off by any other means. You WILL break it. Once you do all that, move what you disconnected out of the way, and you will have full access to the TB.

the good thing that im pretty happy about is that it only took me 15 min for a TB cleaning...i got it all open and it was spotless! lol o well, i got a bit of grime out anyways.
also i went for my AIC valve today too....same story as the TB, looked at it...took pictures on the digi...looked at thoes....went out again....etc. after about 30min of debaiting i finaly identified the thing, i was having some troubles making up my mind which one it was exactly because the sticky has no picture. Bonka told me which colour conectors to look for and that made it easy.
the sun was going down so i had maybe 30min to get it done and didnt think i could do it that quick! but it turns out that it's REALY easy. AIC is a tad bit more difficult than the TB to get off but thats not too hard still.
both of these are realy easy, if this is your first time playing around under there it can be intimidating and you dont want to mess it up obviously. like me, i took a while to make sure.
Kenny if u want some help just post here and ill try to help. i know youd probably have questions that the advanced guys dont bother with. like me ^^
stickey says there are 4 connectors to the AIC, i had 3 .that threw me off a bit. also i dont know where my TBS is so i can set the AIC...
