Ppl W/ Headers Step In
i'm planning on doing my headers/y/cat either this weekend or next, i was wondering what is the best way to go about getting access to the headers. I also wanted to know if there was anything extra i shoould need for the swap.
here is what i have:
OBX headers/y pipe
New exaust manifold gaskets
Hi flow cat
New cat gaskets/bolts
Header wrap for flex sections
Am i missing anything?
thx.

best way to get to the headers is drop the cross membrane support the engine on jack stands, take off the stock y pipe and you should get it out no prob front is a breeze back is a little harder, u joints and extentions are a must. you will need 4 jack stand, and sissor jack from trunk ( to hold engine up) taking off the bolt when exhaust is heated makes it easier, propane torch helps or get the damage bolt remover thingy from sears. there are 5 gaskets. 2x for each header, 2x for headers to y pipe, 1x for y pipe to cat.

goodhead was right. Best to take off the crossmember. Taking off the intake manifold will give you better access to the EGR valve as well.
Look to spend around 6-8 hours at least...the rear header is the hardest part due to the availability of space (or lack thereof, lol).

No write-ups that I know of. There are way too many steps that require pics. If you don't understand the basics of how to do it then you really shouldn't attempt it.
No offense.
Take off intake manifold.
Take off crossmember.
Take off stock ypipe and remove o2 sensors.
Take off front header/rear header and anything that bolts to it.
Install in reverse...
lol

The most difficult part for me was removing the rear heat shield, I do not know why but it took forever to remove. So be careful and make sure you have all the bolts off before you start bending and pulling on it. I did not remove the cross member and had no problems with it being in the way.

you can use a combo 23 on the o2s. its going to be a pain, i ended up returning mine after sitting looking at it for about an hour. tried doing just the y and it didnt bolt to the stock manis so i called it a day.
their methosd seems to be about right, the manual calls for about 6.5 hours on the rear mani, i was definitely sure it wasnt worth the gains, so i called it a day. if your going to do it i would say that this is a pretty good time to do a write up.
good luck.

why?
Well my brother inlaw does all my work.. he shouldnt have a problem but if anyone has good advice please give it to me.. My brother in law(ronald) has built a Turbo B16 CRX with his bare hands in his back yard.. He also has a 92 Bubble back Civic w/ S2000 Taillights and a custon red/black carbon fiber hood.. Its sick.. he is actually selling the bubble.. he is putting the stock motor back in it as it had a gsr before.. If you are going to do the obx and could possibly take pics , you would be the man !!!

people do headers for the sound on our cars NA....but for the lucky supercharged max's, the increase is insane...somewhere in the neighborhood of 20whp over a aftermarket y pipe...!!!
