2000 5spd tranny

for those who have done a 5th gen manual tranny swap on a 4th gen, what did you have to change? do the sensors on the tranny hook up with no problem to the wiring harness, do you have to change the axles from 4th gen to 5th gen or do they fit with no problem?

nothing, it bolts right up. However, you'll notice your shifter sitting back farther in the console. 3rd gear seems just about 1/4" ahead of where neutral was. Keep in mind, I didn't measure anything, just guessing. 2nd, 4th, and reverse are very far back, and low. I still have the stock shifter. I think those with the STS kits are now very pleased with the position (usually the STS moves the shifter forward).

it couldnt have come at a better time because i had some work done to my other tranny, when i got it back and drove about 1k a syncro broke and 4th gear went out.
i brought it back to the guy and he's BS'ing around. my car has been on a lift for way too long, so to aviod that sour deal with that guy and hitting in the head with something i found a tranny at a good price.

i looked at carparts.com and i see 5th gen trannys around $1k

yes if you put a 5th gen tranny in you can reuse your same axles, its only if you get the 5th gen LSD tranny that you'd need new axles, as the input for them are twice as big.
