Is this quote a reasonable price $ for this job?

As some of you may know, I've been dealing with a strange leak comin from my car. I took it to Nissan today, and here is what they have written on my estimate. Im just wonderin what you guys think of this price and/or what the price should be.

Replace 2 leaking seals (Internal Trans. problems causing this)
Replace left inner CV joint
Replace 2 inner gears (What are inner gears)
Replace bearings (differential)

Parts+Labor= $1385.06 + TAX

What do you think?

as far as i know, the CV is not leaking. If it was, what would the diff. be? I was thinkin bout gettin a new/rb tranny. If i did, would the new trans. take care of all these problems? And what do you think the price range of a new or rebuilt tranny is?

Actually, that's not a bad price to take out the tranny, redo the diffy bearings and a gear or two. Plus reinstall the tranny.

Sounds like a decent price but I wonder if half way thru they will tell you they cant fix the tranny and You'll need a new one.

That happened somewhat to me, they pulled out my tranny to fix a leak, the leak was thru the input shaft though, and they said it was un repairable and I needed a new tranny.

maybe that was just me. . . .

how difficult on a scale of 1 to 10 was fixing the bearing issue?

it could be a difficult and scary thing for someone who hasnt done it before even with a good write up, imagine messing up or loosing bearing or something is worse than expected, now your down a car and a tranny.

I'm just paradoid of cracking it open and messing somethign up, plus I know I need a new 4th gear.

$1700 for a rebuilt seems kinda pricey (unless that includes removal/installation). You can get a new transmission from $1665 from buynissanparts.com

[edit: And that's with a VLSD]
