Save up some more money so you'll have shocks that'll support the springs. Speaking from experience here.

IMO Eibachs + Illuminas have the best ride.

save more and get teins basic coilovers.
not much expensive than any springs + illuminas setup.
I do love my sprint + illuminas setup, but I hope I could go lower and not hitting bump stop every freaking bump.

Yup... I kind of went cheap too when i put my eibachs with just 2 tokicos in the front ( thinking that all the weight is in the front) and stock shocks in the back...well mine blew with a couple of weeks....took even more money to put new shocks in the back...so the lesson is if you gonna do it, do it right the first time or else you gonna have to pay more later...still trying to learn by those rules.

im riding on maxspeeds on se struts for quite a while now. yeah i went the cheap way. im so surprised that my struts havnt blown yet even tho the drop isnt that much. its been like over 20k since i installed the springs. never even bottomed out too. knock on wood...

if you do it, do it once and do it right.

if you don't drive like a maniac, then your SE struts will probably last a good while....road conditions are also a factor

if you can't afford adjustables, i recommend Gr-2's from KYB; i've had them now for about a year and no problems at all

I've heard this rumor. KYB GR-2s. I have KYB AGXs w/ my eibachs and I like them. Had them over two years now. Check the f/s forums for springs, you may be able to save $ on used eibachs. I did.

i also heard that eibachs sag over time. when the time comes for me to get a suspension kit, i'll prob go w/ illuminas but ii want lowering springs to where someone can tell my car is lowered while still maintain quality driving conditions.

any opinions?

I had my Eibach's for 1 year on stock SE struts with over 100K on on the struts with no problems, recently installed Illumina's and love the set up. Never heard of Eibachs sagging at all ! I had them on my 300zx for 3 years no problem and a friend had them on his 280ZX for over 10 years!

1. KYB GR2s or Tokico Blues? I'm wondering.
2. Assuming I can afford the illuminas, which I'm trying desperately to, can I use stock springs? How long will they last?
3. What about illuminas and decent coilovers (nothing too extravagant)?
4. Would you say there is a 'major' difference between the tokico blues and illuminas, with the exception of the adjustables?

PS: looking to make a purchase within one week.

Eibachs and KYBs

I initially installed Eibachs with the SE struts and everything was fine. I recently installed KYB GR2s and it is pretty much the same ride. I have had no problems and really like the setup. Don't get the Tokiko struts....they wear out real fast....I don't know from experience, but have read enough on these sites to know better....
