Paint help please....... (pics included)

i know touch up paint sux but its bothering me. when i bought my max about a month ago it had several scratches in the bumpers and i was just gonna have the the whole bumper repainted when i get the stillen kit but that wont be for awhile so i wanted to somewhat fix it in the meantime. ive searched through paintscratch.com but am confused as to what exactly i need. ill be painting all non-metal surfaces so its says i need something different. do i get the touch up bottle or do i need spray paint. thanks for any input - hopefully someone with experience. ive included some pics to give you a better idea thanks guys.

you need the touch up bottle, the spay praint is for bigger surfaces that have no paint on them already. either way itll chip later on

thanks for the help so far guys, but im still kinda confused as to exactly what will be good for the bumper. paintscratch said that if im painting a non-metal surface (which i am) i need some special "flex" paint or something - anyone know what thats all about - thanks. and clear corners are in the mail

The best way to do it is get the whole thing painted. That being said, The second best thing is to get the spray paint. The paint will match provided that you get the right paint color from your color code. Dont worry too much of the fading your original paint has taken. Since it's only nicks it wont really be noticable.

Spray the paint into the cap. Then get a high quality very small paint brush and brush in the paint where you need it. Try to get it as smooth as possible. Then follow with a clear coat in the same procedure in about an hour. Pick a non-windy day to do this. You dont want dirt on your paint.

The flex paint is designed to flex as you bumber gets bumped. This helps so that the paint doesnt get cracked with normal bumping while parking or something. Dont be concerned with this for a touch-up job.

Remember to clean the surface well with degreaser and use gloves. Oils from your hands will make the paint fall off.

After you are done wait 2 weeks for the paint to dry and set. Then use rubbing compund. Then follow with a good wax.

Touch up sticks suck.

Ta da. Good as new. Good luck

I sanded my bumper and painted it with towerpaint.com, I didn't use flex and the paint looks very professional. Make sure you get some clear paint.

If not you just have to buy a bottle of touch up or a spraycan and use some skills. I never seem to get all the scratches in the rest of the body, seems they are occuring on a daily basis.

Well I dont really know what it is. I know that spray bottles come out as a very fine mist so that you'll get nice non-gooppy paint.

Well if it is in a shop, it's okay or in your garage. I wouldnt go doing it outside right now. The paint wont dry right.

If you do it outside when it's cold the humidity isnt right and the paint will come out like an orange peel.

If your doing a touch-up job, it's okay.

well i mean the touch up paint is like 15 bucks and and i prob wont be getting the stillen kit for at least a year or more (priorities like a turbo come first ) but dont worry i will have it all repainted - i just need something in the meantime. i just got done waxing it and the scratches just bug me - im kind of a perfectionist.

Just go to the dealer give them your paint code and get some paint. I find that dark colors blend better, but anything will look better than that. I think if you're careful you'll be surprised how much better it looks.

Maybe $5 or so (I don't mean they'll do it for you...just to get the paint). Probably about the same as courtesy after shipping, but getting it from courtesy wouldn't be bad either.

2 da max, either your friend did it wrong or had the wrong color. Any car will look better with t-up than the black of the bumper. It's obviously not going to look perfect, but it will look better.

alrite well ive finally got a touch up bottle from the dealership and began to apply it this afternoon. however the paint doesnt seem to match right - it almost looks more sterling mist than pebble beige - but im positive its pebble beige, i checked the code. anyway is that normal and will it blend better as time goes on or what? (i know i know that i should just repaint the bumpers but this is in the meantime)

Like I said, light colors tend not to match as well. Make sure you shake it alot before using.

well its pretty much done......... lets just say that the stillen kit and professional repainting of the bumpers may be coming sooner than i thought. it doesnt look bad - it just doesnt look great. but i guess thats all i wanted anyway for the time being.
