"better" for what? intakes dont give you any noticable power addition.. do you want the sound? in that case just get yourself a short ram and save yourself the hastle

to get the most out of the CAI, it has to be the ones that goes in the fenderwell. also, a y-pipe would help too. i just like the CAI cause of the growl

go through the fender under the battery for a real CAI, do the y-pipe first. the CAI is sound and additional HP ( not much 5-10hp off the line then none)

Why is the one that goes through the fender the better of the two CAI designs? I'm wondering because I bought one for $90 but didn't want to cut a hole in my fender (I adapted it into a WAI for current use), but I might reconsider...

its better for the intake to be in the fender, because it is away from your engine block, where the most head is being generated, and in the fender you should be getting the actual air from outside the car, not the air from the engine bay.. get it?

I've heard numerous arguments on this so far on the forums, and the impression that I have so far is that the stock airbox is better for overall power than a CAI. Apparently, the stock midpipe is better than the one that comes with the CAI, so that makes the difference (with good filters on both). I have the hacked airbox to get the good sound and have the power and have it be FREE.

well...for what it's worth you can't measure 5hp on a dyno accurately as far as i know. so how much they give isn't really accurate. but they all don't give alot. if you believe what injen says i'd say buy theirs...i like mine. but i'v seen 700hp Skylines with completly stock airboxes....

yes, read the faq's you'll learn a great deal. the best way to go is a k&n drop panel filter, hacked airbox and an oscai

Well I knew that it goes in the fender to get cold air, but is the air substantially cooler in the fender than where the Injen takes in air?

I had a short ram intake before, but I took if off. I definitely felt low end power loss with the short ram when compared to stock. I was since debating about a hacked airbox. Will I also lose some low end with it?

My answer is: Who knows? There hasn't been enough testing done (that I've seen) to say one gives more gains than another. The reason for the lack of testing? Simple: The gains/losses (if any) will be insignificant at best. Adding the fact that dynos are not considered good indications due to the lack of wind, it's unlikely that this question will ever be laid to rest.

What was "true" on this board a couple of years ago seems to be no longer true. I have yet to read a definitive thread on the subject.

GD and also because it is aluminum. The Budget appears to be the best of both worlds lately because it is fairly cheap and it is stainless steel.
