any helpful info on how to remove/replace front bumper?

Hey guys, I wonder if there's a write up of some sort on how-to remove an OEM front bumper cover. I could probably do it, but I'm sure it'd be easier if I knew exactly where all the screws are to begin with etc.

take out headlights, grill...... its about 6 screws on the top part and 3 on each side(where the bumper meets the fender) very easy. you might have to get up underneath the car for the side ones, its been a while for me.

Maxima Bumper Removal

I just removed my front bumper today as a matter of fact....there are three nuts on each side attaching to the fenders, one on the top of each side on attaching to the fenders, 3 on the top sides of the bumper cover under the headlights, and three in the center. All of them are 10mm. To remove the bumper rebar, it takes a 12mm and there are 2 bolts each side, and to remove the header bar above the bumper rebar, it is 4 bolts each side, again 12mm. Don't forget to remove the bulb sockets from your bumper lights, there are 4 of them before you remove the bumper cover.

guys, I'm having trouble. How do I get to the side screws? Must I remove headlights? If so, how do I remove the headlights? Also, in order to remove headlights, must I remove the corner light? I'm so lost. I just don't freakin know how to get to the side screws on the bumper cover. Thanks

to remove the clearance lamps in the corner, you unscrew the top, then wiggle it around to get a small gap in between it and the headlight, then put a flat head screw driver in there (and look for the ball joint socket) and pry at that carefully and it should pull right out. i think the grill needs to come out first, then the headlights have like 4 screws or so.

does anyone know if you have to remove the wheel well guards? i imagine you would have to.

I did. It was the onlyway to remove the three bolts that attach the bumper to the fender.

Also, if you ever try to remove something like this again, you need to purchase the repair and wiring cd for 95/99 maximas. I got mine on ebay for 8 bucks. It will show pictures and where each nut and screw is. I for one really need pictures. It will be your best friend.

i have a 97 maxima and always hear the 95/96 bumper is heavier, not sure on correct term. once you have the plastic front bumper off. what exactly do you take off and swap at this point ? any photos of the part ?

Well I replaced my front bumper. Thanks for the help guys. Also, just so we're all on the same page...why did you guys say one must removed the headlights? ...or that it's easier with the headlights removed? ummmmmm, no it's not. Honestly, I still cannot understand why one would want to remove the headlights when replacing the front bumper cover.

Anyway, thanks again
