Just bought my first Max!

Just bought my first Max!
Hello everyone! I finally bought my first Max in December, after having wanted one for the longest time. I used to have a '98 Altima GXE, but that's another story. Anyway, I got a dark green auto '97 Max GLE, and already have the mod bug. I already got the clear bumpers, GenII Altezzas, the Euro Clear/Black headlights & corners, and a FSTB from eBay. I have a pretty good grip on the exterior styling, but I was hoping the community could help me out with a few suggestions on what to get as far as performance mods go, due to my limited knowledge of mechanics. Thank you all in advance and I'm so glad to be a part of the orgy!

I'm not into noise, so I started with a K&N panel air filter and a Budget stainless steel y-pipe and certainly have more oomph. There is no discernible noise increase at idle or when cruising, just when you put your foot in it. The other route is to go with a cold air intake or popcharger or a hacked airbox, but I couldn't be bothered as I don't want a noticeable noise increase. Y-pipe is the best bang for the buck performance enhancement.

Thanks for all your replies. What do you guys think about this eBay deal? It includes stainless y-pipe + headers..

word of advice.. dont get sucked into trying to have everything everyone else has. its very easy when your constantly reading about mods. ask alot of questions, do alot of research, and pay attention to whos giving you advice before you buy anything. its better to talk to people that have had first hand experience with your questions, as they can provide you with more detailed "first hand" responses. even if people flame you, ask, ask, and then ask again. theres alot of us on here that have tried many different products trying to achieve the "best" combonation.
Example: if you decide you want to lower your car, and are looking for a particular ride quaitly, look for someone to give you advice whos had there set-up for 3 years, rather than 3 weeks. the location where people are giving you advice must also be taken into consideration. this will give you a much better long term outlook as to how this will effect your car. as u change one thing, other things mabye effected. if you live in brooklyn, you cant expect to have the same set-up as someone that drives around in vegas. just cause he lowered his car 3" ,and slapped on a set of 19's doesnt mean you can do the same without having ALOT of issues afterwards.(bent rims, constant flats, blown struts).
the newer guys like yourself are in a unique position these days. your entering a realm where these cars have been around for a long time now. there alot of aftermarket part available, and alot of people that have had them long enough to give you very good advice as to what works, and what doesnt. alot of things these days were not availble when i first got my car, and i wish they were. the most important advice i can give you, is listen to people that have been around for a while, and it cost alot less to buy better products once, than to go cheap the first time around, and have to fix it later.
good luck, have fun, and welcome to the money pit..

got pics of the new ones installed? did you have to modify anything to get them in, or was it i direct fit.. i would have bought your old ones but somebody beat me to it.. im in the market for new lights.. how much you pick up the new ones for?

yeah here's some pics of the new ones:
Not really a direct fit, i had to cut away the metal that held the corner on and some stuff around the fender, i ended up getting 100 for just the headlights and gave the corners to bijan since both his were cracked to hell

had a 95 that got totaled a lil over a year ago. had the 95 for about 6 years, and wanted another one. my friend happen to be selling his 96 at the same time, so i bought his. i paid about 8,500 for the car , had 65,000 miles on it. gle , black on black, every option, was in perfect conditon. paint was only about a year old, not 1 nick or scratch on it. had the same suspension set-up i had, h&r's kyb's ,clear lights, red/clear tails. 18" rims, custom grill (that i had made for him), no emblems, shaved trunk lock, and the leather was in new condition. it was worth the money, and he never had a problem with the car.. so i bought it.
in the last year, i had the windows retinted, i had to replace both rear hubs, both rear calipers, and both rear abs sensors cause nissan redesigned the rear calipers. emergency brake cable, coil packs, control arm bushings. the b-pipe twice, the original rotted out, the one i replaced it with got ruined in the blizzard we had from driving in the snow. replaced all 4 rims cause the ones on the car bent ( another set claimed by the nyc streets), downgraded to 17's, and bought new tires too. new brake pads, hardware kits for all four brakes cause none were in there and they all started to rattle over bumps. changed the plugs, all fliters, all bulbs. had the original alarm upgraded with a remote start. since then, im on the 3rd brain for the alarm. (no cost, just inconvience). lets see.. what else.. had my complete stereo installed, added headrest monitors, fixed the majority of the rattles in the car.
what coming in the near future : wsp subframe connectors as soon as they release them again. been calling them for over a month now waiting to order. buying 98 headlights and corners from a fellow org member as soon as he gets his car back. buyin new clears to replace the cloudy bumpers in my car. changing out the gr2's to illumina's, new strut boots, strut bearings, and may even go for the energy suspension control arm bushings. im trying to get this car to ride like its new. nice quiet ride, no noise, no rattles, and a real clean look outside. i was gonna get rid of it and lease a new titan, but there having alot of problems with them. so i may keep this car too, even if i lease something new...
