water in trunk :S

water in trunk :S

hey everyone ive got a 99 i30t and my tunk gets water in it from time to time, also ive noticed that some mornings when i open the trunk water actually pours out of the trunk lid into the trunk itself, and my reverse lights seem to have moisture building up inside them, i need to resolve this problem asap, as i want to put in my system and that getting wet wont be fun k thanks alot

u prob need new rubber that goes around the top lip of the trunk itself, i suggest goin to your local salvage yard and picking up a new rubber lip

could be a broken tail light or a loose spoiler.

It's most likely your tail lights leaking into your trunk. The I30 has a pannel on the trunk lid as well. That might be the cause being your already seeing water in it. The tail lights on the body of the car is another source for water to get into the trunk. The black gue that seals the assembly to the car is called dumdum. You can get a package of it at most auto parts stores. Just put a new strip over the old stuff and bolt the light assembly back onto the car.

A good way to find the source is by removing the trunk pannels around the lights and locking yourself or a friend in the trunk with a flash light. Then have a friend spray water directly onto all the cracks around all the lights. When he hits the right spot, you'll see the water come into the trunk.

kk thanks alot guys, now i gottta wait for warmer wather :S LOL or park it in the garage andtry this looosk liek im going to be sitting in the trunk for a while lol
