One last exhaust question

Ok, well I ordered the new super flo y pipe from warpspeed today, along with a cat back Greddy SP2, which includes a resonated B pipe. The last thing I need to get is a new cat converter. I was looking at Random Tech, or Flowmaster. Anyone have a cat from either place, or a different one? Thanks for the info.

stock cat is not that restrictive, you'll only gain like 1-2 hp at most with a hi flow cat.. Why not just stick with the stock one?

I just looked on jerry rome, and courtesy parts for a stock cat converter. 700 bucks?? Does that sound right? I can't believe that the cat converter costs more than my entire Greddy cat back system. Am I looking in the wrong place or what? The part number that I have is 20800-0L725.

$700...for a stock...that sounds about right "occudring to dad"...but u can just go ahead and slap a test pipe on there ...but then u have a back pressure issue, i'll ask about that in one of my later posts look out for it

Random Technologies? Sketchy?

I don't know how well the random tech cats perform, but I believe a Cat is a Cat. I think 250 bucks is a bit steep for a Cat-converter. If you want to save on money, i would recommend getting the magnaflow/carsound hi-flow universal 2.5in catalytic converter, about $65 bucks shipped (Shipping's free btw). Good quality cat for the money, you will need to have it welded though.

Test pipes are horrible for the environment, and not that great for your car either. The less amount of back pressure, the better you are. You will not lose torque, it is just a superstition.

Ok, after looking at some more sites and talking to the dealer again, it turns out that the first price of 700 bucks on the net, was actually for the entire front stock y pipe including the two pre cats. I have found a stock cat for 170 bucks from Bosal, which seems to be much more reasonable. With the warpspeed y pipe and Greddy cat back on its way, I will take a look at the stock cat on the car when i swap out the new parts, and see if I can use the existing cat or not. Either way, 170 is much better than 700.

See if that works. It basically is made without the lined flex section, which should completely eliminate the possibility of bees in a can sound.

it's from warpspeed. It's the newest of all y-pipes. click here It has no flex section, sort of. The flex it has is spring-loaded, which actually allows the pipe to flex. But because it has no "flex" as we know it, it is super quiet - that has been confirmed. It also guarantees no "bees in the can" sound. As for it outflowing other y-pipes, that's still being questioned.
